Willowbank Wildlife Reserve is at 60 Hussey Road in Harewood, about 17 minutes by car from our motel. It is a good place to see kiwi and other native birds, and many of the animals can be fed.
Opening hours
Open every day from 9.30am to 5pm, rain or shine, except Christmas Day.

These are Willowbank's prices when we checked in November 2026:
- Adult: $36.50
- Child (5 to 15): $13
- Under 5: free
- Family (2 adults and 2 children): $93, and $7.50 for each extra child
- Student or senior (65 and over): $30
