Christchurch night markets

From Wednesday to Sunday there is a night market somewhere in Christchurch, with street food from around the world, desserts, crafts and fashion. Most are run by the Christchurch Night Market in the suburbs, a short drive from our motel. On Fridays there is also one in the city centre, a 16-minute walk away.

These are the days and times on the Christchurch Night Market website when we checked in November 2026. Times can change, so check their website before you go.

• Wednesday: Addington Raceway, 5pm to 9pm. Next door to Wolfbrook Arena, about 11 minutes by car. Get directions
• Thursday: Hornby, 6pm to 9pm, at 907 Halswell Junction Road. About 14 minutes by car. Get directions
• Friday: Ferrymead, 5.30pm to 9pm, at 10 Settlers Crescent. About 12 minutes by car. Get directions
• Saturday: the A&P Showgrounds, 4pm to 9pm, at Canterbury Agricultural Park. About 17 minutes by car. Get directions

The night markets are in the suburbs, so most people drive. Your car has its own free space at our motel, one per room.

Ferrymead Heritage Park night market

Ferrymead Heritage Park, a township built to look like early 1900s Christchurch, runs its own night market. It is on the first Saturday of the month, 4pm to 8pm, but not in January, April, June, July or August. There are food and craft stalls, beer and cider, live music, and train and tram rides for an extra fee. Dogs on a leash are welcome. In the city centre

• City Night Market at The Arts Centre: every Friday from 5pm to 9.30pm in Market Square, on Worcester Boulevard. Street food, drinks and desserts, a bar and live music, and it is free to get in. It is about a 16-minute walk from our motel. Check The Arts Centre website before you go.
• Riverside Market is open until 9pm from Thursday to Saturday, with food stalls, eateries and bars beside the river. It is a 16-minute walk from our motel. See our Riverside Market guide.

Is there a night market in Christchurch tonight?

From Wednesday to Sunday, yes: Addington Raceway on Wednesday, Hornby on Thursday, Ferrymead on Friday, the A&P Showgrounds on Saturday and Riccarton Park on Sunday. On Fridays there is also the City Night Market at The Arts Centre, in the city centre. The Christchurch Night Market has none on Monday or Tuesday.

What time do the night markets open?

The Christchurch Night Market opens between 4pm and 6pm, depending on the day, and closes at 9pm. The Ferrymead Heritage Park night market runs from 4pm to 8pm.

Where is the Ferrymead night market?

There are two. The Christchurch Night Market is at 10 Settlers Crescent, Ferrymead, every Friday from 5.30pm to 9pm. Ferrymead Heritage Park has its own night market on the first Saturday of most months, from 4pm to 8pm.

Which night market is closest to ASURE Centrepoint Motel?

Is the Riccarton night market the same as the Riccarton Sunday market?

No. The Riccarton Market is a daytime market, from 9am to 2pm on Sundays. The night market at Riccarton Park is on Sunday evenings, from 5pm to 9pm.
